Prisons

This Ramadan, bring Allah’s word to Muslims in prison

No one should be barred from accessing fundamental Islamic knowledge. Especially those on the path to rebuilding their lives. This Ramadan, support Darussalam in sponsoring copies of the Qur’an and prayer packs for Muslim inmates

Empower a forgotten and neglected part of our community

Numbers we can’t ignore

In NSW, Muslims make 10.3% of the prison population even while we are only 4% of the general population

A troubling environment

Correctional facilities are challenging places. It is our duty to help Muslims come out as better members of the community after their incarceration

Limited access to Islamic educational resources

Current resources for Islamic learning do not fulfil the need of Muslim inmates. We can, and should, improve their conditions

Lack of infrastructure for incarcerated Muslims

There is limited support for those behind bars. A small number of well-intended Muslims (e.g. prison chaplains) bear too large a burden on their shoulders. It is time we helped

Empower a forgotten and neglected part
of our community

Knowledge: Where personal change starts

Assist Muslim inmates in their transformation journey to becoming productive members of the community. It always starts with knowledge

Freedom: Even when behind bars

Equip Muslim inmates with the tools they need for spiritual and intellectual introspection and growth even while they are behind bars

Reap rewards like you can’t imagine

Charity (Sadaqah) is inherently rewarding, but the reward is even greater when it relates to knowledge and is in the blessed month of Ramadan.
