Description

Between 577 and 656 CE, a man named Uthman ibn Affan, also known as Uthman al-Ghani, lived. He was a prosperous trader before adopting Islam in 616. Uthman was well known for his benevolence and intense adherence to the Quran. During his reign, the Muslim community enjoyed peace and prosperity. He directed the collection of the Quran into a single volume, built numerous mosques and schools, and expanded the Muslim empire. In an area called Tabook, to the north of Arabia, the Muslim army was preparing to challenge the Romans. The Prophet asked, "Who will equip them, and Allah Swt will forgive him?" Uthman was the one to equip the Muslim army, providing enough camels and horses to equip one-third of the army. He also gave a large sack of gold coins and said, "No deed can harm Uthman ra after today." Uthman was the only Companion who married two daughters of the Prophet, earning him the title Dhun-Noorain (The Possessor of Two Lights).
