A delightfully written exploration of the life of Umm Aiman (RA), one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (صَلَّى ٱللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ‎), who bravely endured hardships and played a significant role in spreading the message of Islam. 

Born an Abyssinian slave, she was bought with gentleness and kindness by Abdullah, the father of the Prophet (صَلَّى ٱللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ‎) and worked as a maid in the house of Aminah, the Prophet’s mother. To the Prophet (صَلَّى ٱللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ‎) she was revered her as a mother, as she looked after him and raised him after his mother’s death. 

This book focuses on her life in Makkah – her life as slave and then as a freed woman, how she became a Muslim, her marriage, motherhood, her migration to Madinah and her belief in the Prophet and his mission. 

A book of colourful illustrations, the book provides an enjoyable reading experiences for children as well as adults, and will help them learn about and appreciate the life of Umm Aiman (RA).

About the Author:

Sr. Nafees Khan is a graduate of Aligarh Muslim University in India and a retired member of The Ontario College of Teachers in Canada. 

Her career spans over thirty years as an elementary school teacher and has been an active member of the Muslim community in Canada since 1967. Her dedication to the Muslim Community and her love of teaching lead to her key role in the establishment of two prominent schools in Toronto: Islamic Foundation and Al Falah and served as Principle at both of these schools. 


Other books Sr. Nafees has written include: A to Z of Akhlaaq, Allah's Zoo, Basic Duas for Children, Prophet of Peace and The Traveller from the Heavens.
