Description

How can we ensure that our children follow the path of Islam and sunnah? How can we teach them from a young age? Which hadiths are suitable for children? We all have these questions pop up in our mind and this blog hopes to revolve them.

The Prophet says:

Whoever takes a path seeking knowledge, God will facilitate for him a path to Heaven.

He (PBUH) also said:

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said:

May Allah brighten a man who hears a Hadith from us, gets it by heart and passes it on to others.

These Hadiths indicate that memorizing hadiths, and studying about them are among the reasons for entering Paradise and escaping from the Hellfire.

Samely the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion”

The understanding of religion is through the Quran as well as the Sunnah, and understanding the Sunnah is evidence that Allah wants good for man.

Quran and tasbih

There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari that informs us of the legislation of learning Hadith. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said:

“The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits).

The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah’s religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophets and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah’s guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land.)”

After reading this hadith, the question is, how much do we as Muslims, take care to learn the hadith for ourselves and our children, to memorize it and to convey its teachings to others? Is this the responsibility only of those children who are the students of Madaris? Or whose home environment is somewhat Islamic? no! It is the responsibility of every Muslim to learn every commandment of Islam and to live according to it and to teach hadiths to their children.

Parents are a guardian in the eyes of the Shari’ah and on the Day of Judgment, they will be asked about their responsibilities. They will be accountable to Allah for the way they raised and taught their children. They shall pass this test if they raise their children with a proper Islamic upbringing and teach them the Quran and hadiths for children. Therefore, a Muslim society can never think of putting the teachings of the Quran and Hadith behind them.

Praise be to Allah. The Quran is the most widely read book in the world. The original interpretation of the Quran is the hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Hence it is very important that we at least understand all the hadiths of the Prophet (PBUH) even if we cannot memorize them.

Abdul Malik Mujahid حفظه الله for this very reason has compiled 60 ahadith for kids that are short and ideal for his children’s book “60 Golden hadith for Children”
